What's a crab cat?
Crab Cat is an electronic music duo whose goal is pioneering the next evolution of lofi. We have combined the parts we love most about Lofi Hip Hop and Synthwave to create a new type of living breathing lofi. Our compositions are full of rich textures and beautiful motifs that always feel fresh and alive. As Lofi Hip Hop is known for it’s sleepy hypnotic energy and Synthwave is known for its constant pedal to the metal energy Crab Cat aims to strike a balance between the two so as to be the perfect soundtrack for the daily grind.
Started by Ryan Caldwell and Dylan Schweitzer in 2021, Crab Cat has already created their sophomore album Robot Friends despite having released their first album, Used Hoverboard (Local Pickup Only), earlier this year. From the onset of Crab Cat the duo endeavored to release a new track every single week until the sun exploded. You might wonder how they keep such a relentless production schedule without sacrificing quality or originality? That is because of their meticulously quoft workflow that they have dubbed “The Song Machine”. It is not in fact an actual machine or program but the unique and constantly adapting system of collaboration they have created. Crab Cat is the song machine.
